You have to first install the printer to the system (AKA "create a queue"). In the main menu, there is a command for printer management--or something similar.
If you've already done this, does the printer work from other applications?

Gimp Printer

Hi Pixelly
Printer DCP130c is setup and printing in open office no problem
Kmenu> Printsystem> configure.kde control module does not show DCP130c
only when Administration Mode is selected.
Can start printer in terminal program Gimp
Brother printer is not listed in Gimp printer setup
Old HP printer is still showing
Need to configure Gimp in the system ,How?

You've got me on this one...
I had assumed that GIMP simply selected already installed printers. But now I see that you have to select the printer model in GIMP, even if a queue is already defined. On my system, the choices are more limited than when installing a print queue.

More investigation required.

One thing to check--search you package manager with keyword "gimp" and see what printer driver packages are not installed. Install, and then try again.

Finally, contact Brother---if only to keep sending the message that "linux users are people too".
