Failure in installing Mepis

It is now the second time I try to install Mepis
Mepis 7 and now Mepis 8 X86-64
Both times at sdb1 and GRUB at SDB MBR
While it can locate my other Linux distros , it can not locate it is own
Both times I used the Live Version
Is the Live version to be installed on sda ?
Or has I to change something ?
Grub is loading OK gives it give me the choices and if I go for Mepis than it comes with a GRUB error can not remember with one.

Can anybody tells me what to do ?

regards

ronlau9,

Go to terminal and as root, type:

fdisk -l

(that is lower case L, not the number one).

Post the output here.

Then go to the file /boot/grub/menu.lst
and again post the output here.

It will give us all a much clearer idea of your setup.

I leave Mepis for now and installed on the same drive Ubuntu 8.04 and
Ubuntu 8.10 without any problems.
The last complain I get from Mepis was that I has more partitions than supported by my BIOS .
This of course not correct because at the time I installed her on SDC she
the only OS on SDC Now I have 2 OS on SDC .
ON SDA and SDB nothing change
