Hey everyone,

I just installed Mepis, and I must say it's great but... When I rebooted my PC after customizing some stuff (installing the NVIDIA drivers, customizing the default look) I got into a problem.

Mepis boots me into a shell. No kde.

Everything seems to be fine when booting except couple of lines... Those are:

"Starting web server: Apache2apache2: Could not determine the servers fully qualified domain name, using 127.0.0.1 for server name"

and...

"Mepis Linux testing unstable
matts tty1
eth1: network connection down"

Yes, eth1 is always down since it's an ethernet card that I never use. It's built into my motherboard. Gives me a lot of trouble if I keep it connected. On default, I use eth0 and that's what is connected.

I see a line "Starting K display manager: kdm" but when I try switching to it (F6... I think) I get a black screen. Any help?

Thanks a lot. Right now I'm sitting on my Windows...

Type "apt-get update" then, "apt-get -s install nvidia-glx" to see if all of nvidia installed, if no remove the -s. Then restart kdm. Also Alt+F7 is the GUI. Once in the GUI go to Mepis OS Center and uncheck "start on boot" under networking for eth1,wlan,ath,etc... you have to hit apply on each screen for it to take effect.
