DVD player for Mepis

I'm just looking for a codec or something along those lines for Mepis, I'm used to a Windows environment so please bare with me. But I just haven't gotten the hang of Linux yet, the installation methods and file system seems so foreign to me. Someone please explain how I enable DVD playback in Mepis, step by step if you could. Thanks in advance....

Go to Synaptic Package Manager.
Go to Settings > Repositories.
Make sure all of the repositories are checked (except the non-US ones).
Then click Reload.
Then search for libdvdcss2
Mark it for installation.
Apply.

That's it.

If you don't know how to use Synaptic, click here

ooh but any repositories that have .us need to have the .us removed. When said and done it should have these four enabled:
ftp://ftp.debian.org/ testing
ftp://ftp.debian.org/ unstable

ftp://ftp.nerim.net/debian-marillat/ unstable
http://apt.mepis.org/3.3/ unstable

hit OK, search for libdvdcss2, mark it, apply it. But DO NOT make any major updates right now while you are in there (Synaptic)!! Its broken many a machine recently, if you read around.

I found entering the DVD device and right clicking on the folder named something like AUDIO made me able to 'play the folder' in XINE in MEPIS.

um....
from memory you need to apt-get install libdvdcss2 w32codecs kaffeine

libdvdcss2 w32codecs are codec packs and kaffeine is a frontend for mplayer
