does 6.5 kill geforce2 support like ubuntu?

I've just given up on x/ubuntu after upgrades killed support for my 'legacy' nvidia geforce2 video card.
Mepis 6.0 seems happy with the card so far
but
does / will 6.5 kill this legacy support?

It looks like Mepis 6.5 has all kinds of video recognition trouble, so I would stay away from it if you have anything other than a modern nVidia card and a normal 1024x768 monitor.

nvidia geforce2 MX is running ok here in 6.5.00 with the nvidia's legacy driver. Wasn't aware ubuntu was having a problem with the older cards. Installing the legacy nvidia driver in Mepis is really painless, basically brain-dead really.

I did run into some problems with the monitor being incorrectly identified. All is fine now. Really no better way to find out than trying it. Don't forget to try pressing f3 at the grub screen if resolution is a problem.

btw, Beryl is running just fine here, and is more useful than expected. Fun too.

edit/ Looks like not is well in geforce2 land after all

Haven't noticed this problem so far on my machine.

GeForce 2 GO

I am using a GeForce2go in my laptop. It works great with the legacy 9631 driver. I had to make a couple changes to the xorg.conf to get my monitor to display at the resolutions I want, but it will display 1280x720 widescreen when connected to my widescreen TV, and 1280x1024 when not.

Originally, I updated from 6.0 to 6.5 through Synaptic and Beryl worked as expected. I then reinstalled from LiveCD keeping /home, and I have had some problems with Beryl working properly. Beryl is cool, but not necessary to me so it's not a deal breaker in using Mepis.

Running 6.5 on an old Shuttle AN35N GF2 mobo and a Nvidia video card (also old). Everything working great.
