dmb4k and smb:/
My LAN contains 2 hosts using SimplyMepis which has been upgraded via Debian Testing. Mepis comes with two samba browsers, SMB4K and SMB:/ which uses Konqueror. The SMB:/ command is also used by other distros; apparently it is a part of the KDE suite. The two browsers do not behave the same with respect to file transfers.
Can anyone tell me what is going on here? Is there a fix for SMB4K?
SMB4K displays and transfers files without apparent Date/Time Stamp modification.
When a remote host connection is broken by a shutdown or reboot, the SMB4K browser crashes and cannot be restarted without a local reboot.
SMB:/ displays a remote timestamp that is 7 hours less than that displayed by Konqueror on the remote system. (7 hours is the difference between my local time and UMT.)
After copying a file from a remote, the "Modified" date-time stamp reflects has been changed to reflect the current date/time, NOT the data attached to the original file.
TIA,
Al
