I recently switched from Mepis to Pclinuxos. I liked Mepis, even bought a copy of it and wrote a review for it on this very website. The problem is that I wanted to use kde 3.4 I had used it before and didn't want to take a step back. I thought that I could install 3.4 on mepis but it seems nearly impossible. Everyone I asked said to not attempt it.
My question is does anyone know when Mepis will update to kde 3.4?
Mepis tries to be as compatible with Debian as possible therefore it will probably switch to KDE 3.4 only when 3.4 version will make it's way to unstable.
Well as I said rushing to the latest KDE may not be the best till it is perfected on debian systems,
jumping to another distro just because it has the latest thing doesnt seem smart to me as it could kill your compy.
im using kde 3.4.1 in mepis right now. you just need to add another source for synaptic and set it so taht it downloads from experimental and thats all. it works great, except for kdm, but it really isnt a big deal.
