creating link to run firestarter


hi guys i would like to know how to create a shortcut to firestarter so i can start it everytime i want to logon to the net,but when i create a link not under root priv it says i can only run this program as root and not as a user so anyhelp be great .

a firestarter package normally contains an init script which would be used to start the iptables rules on boot. do you not have /etc/init.d/firestarter or such? if so you should really set that to run at boot rather than manually stop and start the service each time... not the way forward really.

Firestarter - skitzo

From the Main Screen of Firestarter go to Preferences>User Interface>Enable Tray Icon. That I think is what u want.

Forgot to mention, if u go thru the Firestarter Wizard u can have it start automatically whenever you connect to your ISP , assuming u are using a modem. There is a box to check for that.

MEPIS come with Guarddog availabel throught KDEMenu.System-Security-.Guarddog

Any particular reason Guarddog doesn't serve your security issues?
