Crackly sound in SimplyMepis3.3.1
I just installed mepis 3.3.1 <again> and I had this problem in the last install, but I checked alsamixer, and I changed all those settings.
But every time I play a mp3, I get a crackly type of sound, its just unpleasent, probally bearable, but I would like it rather not do that.
Is there a way to reinstall the codecs or anything?

mmm, dunno if the codecs are to blame actually. Which program do you use for MP3s? You might try to select OSS as default sound system instead of ALSA. If you use XMMS, right click on the main window - options - preferences - audio output plugin.
Or try playing MP3s in a different player, e.g. RealPlayer.

nah it was something simple, I just had to change xmms and mplayer to use alsa instead of arts, I can't believe I didn't figure that out before posting
