Can not install thunderbird 2

hello everybody,

i am trying to install thunderbird 2 and i followed the instructions on the thunderbird website and i get this message

Code:

ahmad@1[thunderbird]$ ./thunderbird
bash: ./thunderbird: Permission denied

i changed the properties of the file to be executable so the result changed

Code:

ahmad@1[thunderbird]$ ./thunderbird
Cannot find mozilla runtime directory. Exiting.

of course there is something wrong and i can not find it out so,

what is it

?

thank you very much jimmy512 and sorry for a very late feedback

i followed the instructions in that thread and still had problems so i renamed the the original thunderbird folder in /usr/lib and copied the new version in the same place then i created a shortcut to the desktopand now i haxe thunderbird up and running with nearly 3 hours wasted and still no access to hotmail
