Can't seem to get Partimage to work

I like to create images of my partitions just in case. Mepis 6.5.02 say's Partimage (or Partition Image) is installed but I can't seem to bring it up. Are there other files I need to install using Synaptic? Thanks.

You'll have to run it off the LiveCD, since you can't backup a partition in use. It's a command line tool, so you have to run it in konsole as root, but it has a sort of ASCII GUI. Compressing the image as a .gz file seems to be the best option. In the liveCD konsole, just type

su
password is root
partimage

Tried that. Doesn't seem to work. I found out Acronis True Image works on both Windows and Linux, so I used that. Thanks.

Starting partimage.

To run partimage and many other apps all you need to do is open a konsole, become root if you are starting partimage, then type partimage into konsole. It will start up. Another thing to try is to get partimage-doc from synaptic. That will give you some documentation to read about partimage.
