automating updates with mepis

Hello !

I am intending to write a script that would allow for scheduled updates. There are two keys points that would need to be covered:

- it should pin packages flagged by listbug.
- it should pin packages that we shouldn't upgrade ( the one that are MEPIS specific and that upgrading to a debian one would lead to break things)
- it would prefer a specific tree to upgrade from.

-> Does anybody knows the list of packages to avoid upgrading automatically ( the mepis variants)

-> Does anybody knows how to default apt-get to pin. otherwise my script would get stuck waiting for a reply...

-> anything I should be careful about?

Thanks!.

The packages that depend on the kernel like nvidia and ati, other than that it doesn't matter, if mepis has a custom version of the package apt-get will get it from mepis repository first since that has priority. Hoever there are only couple of packages, Mepis tries to be as compatible with Debian as possible (and it is).

if you do an automatic upgrade it is a good idea to save a log of each apt-get.

iapt-get update && apt-get upgrade --trival-only -t <branch>

should allow to update packages that do not have bugs, but it doesn't prevent from upgrading a package that is mepis specific...
Any idea ?
