I used Mepis 3.3 in the past, wandered over to Ubuntu 6.06 which was pretty decent. I am now trying out SimplyMEPIS 6.0-1 DVD Edition. As stated on the Mepis.com page this is "an update of SimplyMEPIS 6.0, MEPIS' first Ubuntu based edition released earlier this summer. The SimplyMEPIS 6.0-1 bootable DVD not only includes hundreds of bug and security fixes, but the 1,900 packages of the three SimplyMEPIS Extras CDs, as well."

I am very happy so far, and it is nice having mplayer installed and working upon initial install, unlike Ubuntu 6.0.6 which was frstrating trying to get mplayer and all of the proper codecs installed.
I would recomend SimplyMEPIS 6.0-1 DVD Edition.
