a weird MEPIS ad I saw

While browsing eBay, I saw an auction for a MEPIS 6.0 disc that was peculiar in two ways. It started out with:
>Linux is a NEW Linux distribution that has the folks at Microsoft scared silly.

[smirk] Does anything sound odd about that, i.e., recursion? Or the seller not appearing to know the difference between "Linux" and "MEPIS" except in the auction title?
But then there was this claim:
Microsoft is so concerned they are trying to BAN this CD from eBay!

Hmm. Does anyone know if Microsloth is really doing that? Not that they could probably prevent eBay sellers from selling Linux--it's a free marketplace, isn't it? Considering the other line, the seller probably doesn't know what he's talking about.

I would guess that what is happening is that eBay are closing the auctions because they don't understand the GPL or just don't want the hassle of having to understand and enforce it.

It's just sales hyperbole.

Yeah, well, someone needs to tell them that Microsoft is wrong--resistance is not useless.
