3.3.1 kontact-kmail address book

Hi
The compose window has buttons on the right side, at the end of the "to" bar which, when clicked bring up the email addresses of people that I have written to in the past.
How do I transfer these to the address book/contacts section ?(without typing each one)
There is also a title (in contacts) "resource name" and "file address book"; what do these mean/refer to?
In "contacts" there is a window with "resource-name"; when I attempt to enter a contact I get

The resource '/home/jan/.kde/share/apps/kabc/std.vcf' is locked by application 'kontact'.
What does this mean?
Thanks

click on the 'to' radio button on the right side of the compose screen which wants an email address to send the email to. When the box of email addresses comes up just click on them which will put them on the right side and when you have as many on the right side as you want to send the message to then click ok and they will go to the 'to' line. Now click send and all of those people will receive that particular message. When you go to send another message they will all be back on the left waiting to be clicked on again for your next message.
You can have more then one address book and that's where you see the resourse name. If you click on edit you can change the resource name to Friend's Addresses of Business Associates or what ever you choose. You can add one called Lady Friends if you want too :-0 .
As far as things being locked, you didn't happen to set up your email account when in your Root desktop did you. Usually when things get locked it is a permission thing.

Thanks Hoe
Your first paragraph is what I am doing now.The " the box of email addresses comes up just click on them whi..."is so small that I would like to transfer the addresses to the "contact" page.
There is NO address book icon anywhere. The "file, edit view" bar has no reference to an address book. If you switch to the "contact" page the only reference to an address book is in "settings"( and the "help" section doesn't help).
So, how do I move the addresses in the "box of email addresses" to the contact page.(or must I type each one in?)
I have 2 addresses there already but i have no idea how they got there!
Thanks for your help.

If you are in the Contacts menu then that is your address book.

Also when you get an email from someone and right click on their email address it gives you the option to automatically add it to that address book.

Thanks Wayne
It seems that the list of addresses that now exists in "the little box" can only be transferred to "contact" by writing them one by one.
From now on I will follow your advice and right click on each email that I receive.
Thanks
