Hi all.

Setup

Master - 80gb - xp
Slave - 40gb - mepis

I installed Mepis on my computer along with xp. I have xp on the "master" and mepis on the "slave". I didn't want to install GRUB so I skipped over it. Well for some reason Mepis can't read my floppy drive.

So I tried to reinstall and install GRUB, I tried it in root (not MBR) on the "slave" (hdb) and it wouldn't let me install it there.

So what do I do now? Am I suppose to try to install it on the "master" (hda)? I really don't want to mess it up so all help appreciated.

Is there a way for me to boot to my "installed mepis" from the cd?

Installing to the MBR should be fine.

MEPIS would detect your Windows XP and would then Dual-Boot with MEPIS.

You can do this using the MEPIS OS Center.

Put in the live cd boot up,re-install the grub loader onto a floppy,(via install me), reeboot with floppy as first boot device ,if it boots correctly you should be able to choose windows or mepis(with grub) and run either. If all goes well you should have no problem re-doing the whole process and install to your mbr of the first hd.
