Welcome to the LQ Manjaro forum. Manjaro has been in the top 10 at DW for quite some time, so as a result of this distro forum policy change we've added a dedicated forum. Note that unlike most LQ distro fora there is no official participation at this time, but if you know anyone associated with either distro and think they'd like to participate (it does not have to be a main developer or project founder, just someone approved by the distro) let us know.

Why Manjaro for me? Because I love control, speed and lightness. Manjaro does not hide the console, instead, it promotes its use...as I'm quite aware many do :)
I have been runnign Arch before. Arch - for all its benefits - is sharp edged, and not aimed to day to day human use. Where Arch is sleek in combat, Manjaro is a teddybear :)

hey all!! New to Manjaro & new to this site as well.
I've been a Linux Mint user for a long time but had been starving for more up to date software, just installed Manjaro a few days ago & I'm madly in love. My only concern is long term stability as it's a rolling release but from reading forums, it sounds like it should be very stable.

Welcome to both this forum and Manjaro! You'll enjoy 'em both.
I have been using Manjaro quite some time now, and as far as a roller goes, it's stable. It does NOT boast the bleeding edge, but that comes with a bonus: what you do get is stable. Arch is bleeding edge, but that...can (does not have to) break things...
Maybe a warning: try to avoid the AUR. That is a (good and fun) collection of user contributed (and maintained) stuff...stability can be an issue...or...the lack there off...
Manjaro does not provide support on the AUR collection. If you're confident enough to debug your way out of and through the swamp, go ahead. Some of it is really good :)
As for the "older" software...that too is a plus, things like Mint are super stable...because they dont sit on the "edge" all the time :)

I have started using Manjaro last week, been a mint user for a long time but recently felt like changing and installed Manjaro xfce version, it looks pretty cool although I am getting some Plymouth related error in startup. Will try to fix that when I can, otherwise might need LQ user's help to fix it.

Don't forget that Manjaro also has its own forum and the users are fairly friendly there too :)

I know that it is a rolling release for the OS, but what about the applications, utilities, etc., are they also updated along with the OS?

They do expect people to do a lot of work before asking questions
