Timeshift

I have just installed Timeshift.

On clicking the programme it will not start. Suggestions please.

Further, If I can't access the pc, I can use the live pendrive to access the computer's hard drive. But, do I also have to install Timeshift on the pendrive?

I have no external hard drive, so where will Timeshift install the backups. Further, I don't want my hard drive filled with backups Important). Suggestions please

Thank you for responding

sudo timeshift does not run the programme. But, sudo timeshift-gtk does run the programme.

Let me expalain the second part of my question.

Hypothetically, if the computer crashes so that the gui cannot be accessed, then I could use a live pendrive to access the pc, but would I need a copy of timeshift on the pendrive if this programme is on the hard disk?

Regards

that is not the information i asked for.
also i am not at all sure if it's a good idea to run timeshift with superuser privileges.

i understand.
it is possible that it's just a gui frontend to some more widely used software like rsync.
different backup tools work differently; some require software to access the backups, some just dump the files as they are, so no special software is required.
you should read timeshift's documentation & web pages on this.

[andrew@Dell-pc ~]$ ls -l /usr/bin/times*
ls: cannot access '/usr/bin/times*': No such file or directory
