i tried many time to login manjaro forum with the old password, but denied. i tried "forgot pwd" but they never really send "reset pwd email" to my email. hence till now i still can't access the new forum
Just wait till you say the wrong thing. Some of those forum folks are as bad as the old "Ask Ubuntu" leets.
Stick with this forum, kiddo.
Binkyd, how write you are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I first joined their
forum, as a newbie, I was rebutted several times for my improper use of tech
terms and for not following proper protocol. These "experts" would be very
quick to be critical of new members and would close a thread after only two
weeks.
Frankly, I had enough of these chosen elitists and never went back to their
forum. If you say the wong thing, then you are either a dolt or a tech heretic.
It is still going on to this day. Hear is an example of a helpful reply.

That is why I am hear, andrewysk! Always received helful advice
and tips without a snobbish comment or insult.
As they say, there is no such thing as a stupid question, just a stupid answer if its not helpful.
If we don't know something, we ask those we think may be able to help so that we can learn the answer, then next time, we might be able to help others.
If we want the world to be using Linux instead of closed source software, then the Linux community need an attitude as open as the software we use!
The trouble is, for many, their first experience of Linux is contact with some of those toxic individuals, and then they don't come back...

Well put, Fred, indeed. I suspect those with a condescending attitude are simply "Linux Elitists"
and are more than likely the same with their fellow man in other endeavors.

What made you come back to such an old thread ? lol
To be frank , endeavors forum is slightly better than manjaro. However if manjaro team want to help you, they can solve your problem really fast (not all problem they willing to tackle, they will blame it on your handling).. i have encountered that manjaro team gave me a few tips and my problem and issue solved just like that.
Endeavors forum is slightly more friendly, but that also means more chitchat and less problem solving. But there are elites in the forum that insisting you do as their suggestion.. sometime there are several ways to work a problem.. if you don't follow their way, some of them will be very harsh on your next thread.
Linux question forum has better attitude toward people who need help. Sometime i have so many issues.. one after another, especially when i just started using arch linux.. People here are less likely to be aggressive on you. The most is they just ignore your post.. I think that is good too.. because if one is tired of helping such problematic person like me.. they can just ignore to help me, let other ppl who willing to help help. Why need to rebuke criticize ? My opinion of such eople are adopting "cancel culture".... they just don't do well with people who they can't agree with; hence they will "fight to win".
I have recently joined the forum, and was just reading through posts, and it was only a month old...
...besides it did strike a chord with me...
I remember having a Wi-Fi issue on an Arch based distro that didn't have *systemd in it, partly caused because I am on an old MacBook which uses a Broadcomm chipset, and partly because any tutorials I found were typically assuming a systemd approach with relevant posts on the OS forums often quite negative.. a long dig through several areas of the Arch wiki and some lateral thinking how to fix it later, and my problem was solved by myself, which I agree does teach you for the future, but sometimes, 'you just need a fix', right?
It is this aspect of using Linux that continues to put off the vast majority of potential users, many don't need Windows, 'it just came installed on my computer', but to move away from it, they do need some hand holding from time to time, and making someone feel inferior or stupid means they simple go away feeling burned and don't come back..
I feel that 'just answering the question asked', is often a better approach, as in future, you just have to point someone to the answer you already gave, rather than typing it out again, and as you say, if you have nothing helpful to add, why respond at all!
*Obarun - it uses S6 as init with '66' suite to admin it.
Andrew, whether or not, it still has relevance. Forums are design to helf posters,
they are not army boot camps. I suspect there are Tech Intellectuals whom become easily
slighted by the ignorance of new users. It takes one or two such debasements for the
new users to leave the forum. I never went back to the Manjaro forum despite it
is my second most used OS.
[I was criticized for not posting what "environment" I was using]I had to call the EPA.
I had the pleasure to inform the "forum batterer" it had no merit to the subject at hand.
I have been using Linux for two years and reading hours on end and still consider meself
a Tech Dolt.
I will have a look at the Endeavor forum.
The Mint forum as been extremely helful in understand the OS and its functions.
Currently there is a 23 page thread regarding the backup and cloning software called Foxclone. It
went off the topic to some degree, when varies backup software were introduced.
Much to my satisfaction, I have never been subjected to a single elitist and stinging
post. The members are fabulous and graceful, as are the posters hear at Linuxquestions.
Is it not a joy and pride, to be able to assist someone in need??

It should be joy to assist.. but some ppl might "helped a bit too many ppl" i guess.. hence from joy became annoyed.
I once read that forums need skillful member to be in the forum. They let the skillful member do as wish.. because they have philosophy that: if a forum is full with friendly cheerful people, then it is a chatting forum, not tech forum anymore. And if they restrict the bad attitude of the skillful member, then the member will leave, hence the tech forum will become pointless.
This above, is what i heard in one of the arch based forum just 1 or 2 years ago.
Hence they let the skillful member to be elite... which relentlessly poking around newbies... ya.. what can say.. it is their forum, their way.
sad to say, As newbie, either you take it or leave it.
