Just read about Manjaro on Forbes website

https://www.forbes.com/sites/jasonev.../#7af051d636f9

This move may be met with derision by some, but I applaud the team on expanding its vision and trying to ensure its continued success.

You can read the entire announcement in the Manjaro forum.
Can't say I've used it for some time now but sounds more promising than a Ubuntu and Canonical?

So... how does this company make money (with Manjaro)?

Interesting that Muller states it will help them to accept donations in a more open manner, but locks the thread from comments. The irony is quite thick. I applaud them incorporating/forming a partnership, many FOSS projects fail because they never get past the hobby status. Even successful hobbies should be set up properly.

I'm also curious how much money can be make in such an 'open' manner, especially considering hearing about it on Forbes website?

And yeah, no comments kind of shut the 'open' story off...

Actually I can answer my own question - it seems to be still via donations, only they have to run through a fiscal host first:
Quote:
The two main changes are:

To transfer donation funds to a non-profit “fiscal host” which will then accept and administer donations on the project’s behalf. This secures the donations and makes their use transparent.

A new established company, Manjaro GmbH & Co. KG, to enable full-time employment of maintainers and exploration of future commercial opportunities.
PS:
comments here.

Am I the only person who's mildly surprised that Forbes noticed something Linux?
