yahoo messenger please
 

i used to IM with ymessenger , in mandrake 9.2 but not now , when i login ymessenger keep connecting forever, what is the problem?, i'm connecting via a proxy server.
has anyone succeded in connecting with ymessenger, please tell me how

why do you use ymessenger, when you have gaim in linux by default? Gaim is so much better. Try it out.

OK i dowloaded the latest gaim 1.10, ca u tell me please how do i set up gaim in order to IM
i have:
a yahoo acccount
i'm connecting to internet via proxy through a network.
Please help step by step as i'm newbie.

in gaim
go to accounts---> add--->choose yahoo protocol---->add ur yahoo login name and password------>save

then choose ur yahoo account grom gaim
enter ur password

for proxy
go to preferences.----->go to network=---->go to proxy--->choose HTTP proxy------>enter proxy config

and ur done

i did what you said, but i get a dialog box right away saying " **** has been disconnected proxy connection error 502" reconnect or cancel

the thing that puzzle me is that is wotks fine under windowsXP with ymessenger

Naturally. It's built for that platform...

install gaim in winxp to see if it works there, if it does its a up.(user problem)
gaim has allways worked fine for me, proxy or no proxy.
right now it's firewalled and working fine through the firewall.
I would double check you're proxy config.

if you can browse the web, gaim should work fine.

i do bowse the web in linux through the proxy very normally but the gaim doesn't connect
