XF86Config-4 altered after reboot (no glx)

Well, now I'm pissed... finally I got used to the install routine of the nvidia drivers and now the guys at MandrakeSoft succeeded in messing with it again. Whenever I reboot my MDK 10 (Community release, updated just yesterday), certian lines in my XF86Config-4 look like this:

...
# Load "glx" # 3D layer
...
Driver "nv"
...

Of course, no opengl with these settings and no matter how often I try to enable glx and set the driver option to "nvidia" again, it will always look like this after rebooting my machine. This feels sooo much registry...

Any suggestions ?

Same deal with my ATI 7000, but fixed now

Hi Cyrus,

I got a similar problem (no GLX module) after having downloaded a set of updates, with my ATI 7000 card. (Mandrake 10).

It is now fixed after I downloaded the new updates yesterday (I think there were 4 of them like Hardrake and Draketools rpms, mentionning a problem with NVidia cards in the comments) and changed the line of mt XF86Config-4:

# Load "glx" # 3D layer

into

Load "glx" # 3D layer

It works for me (after a reboot of course).
Let me know if it works for you.

I had a similar problem with this line in XF86Config-4. It comments itself out in every reboot. I'm a newbie, and didn't get what you did to fix this problem. Can somone give me an idea on what I can do?

Regards Vegard
