X86_64 version of urpmi broken?
I put together a new system with an AMD Athlon64/X2 dual-core processor,
and installed the X86_64 version of Mandriva 2006. Now I'm trying to apply the updates, and getting nothing but grief. I've added the update media: urpmi.addmedia --update updates \ ftp://mandrake.contactel.cz/Mandrakelinux/official\ /updates/x86_64/2006.0/main_updates/ \ with media_info/hdlist.cz But when I try to update the system with urpmi --media updates --auto-select I get an initial dependency failure Some package requested cannot be installed: libkdecore4-3.4.2-31.3.20060mdk.i586 (due to unsatisfied kdelibs-common[== 30000000:3.4.2-31.3.20060mdk]) libkdecore4-devel-3.4.2-31.3.20060mdk.i586 (due to unsatisfied libkdecore4[== 30000000:3.4.2-31.3.20060mdk]) followed by a slew of uninstall requests due to cascading dependency failures: The following packages have to be removed for others to be upgraded: ImageMagick-6.2.4.3-1mdk.i586 (due to missing ghostscript) WindowMaker-0.92.0-3mdk.i586 (due to unsatisfied mandrake_desk >= 8.3-3mdk, due to missing menu) X11R6-contrib-6.9-1.cvs20050915.2mdk.i586 (due to unsatisfied xorg-x11 == 6.9) a2ps-4.13b-8mdk.i586 (due to missing ImageMagick) amarok-1.3.1-3mdk.i586 (due to missing libDCOP.so.4, due to missing libkdecore.so.4, due to missing libkdefx.so.4, due to missing libkdeprint.so.4, due to missing libkdesu.so.4, due to missing libkdeui.so.4, due to missing libkhtml.so.4, due to missing libkio.so.4, due to missing libkjs.so.1, due to missing libknewstuff.so.1, due to missing libkparts.so.2, due to missing libkutils.so.1, due to missing libkwalletclient.so.1, due to missing libkonqsidebarplugin.so.1, due to missing amarok-engine, due to missing kdemultimedia-common) etc., etc., basically uninstalling the entire system. I've verified ghostscript is installed: #rpm -qa | grep ghostscript ghostscript-module-X-8.15-21mdk ghostscript-8.15-21mdk ghostscript-fonts-8.11-4mdk And I've also checked and found that the kde libs it's complaining about are on the update site. I've tried rebuilding the rpm database with no effect. What gives? I've been running Mandrake/Mandrive since 7.x, and this is the first time I've had problems like this. |
Never mind
It's usually pilot error. <sigh>
Somehow I either mislabeled the DVD's or burned the wrong ISO. Apparently I actually installed the 32-bit version, so of course things won't work when I try to update with the 64-bit archives. Duh! |
