x-mule freezes my system!
 

That's strange... I'm trying to run the newest version of xmule on my mandrake 10.0 but it works only for about ten minutes, then the system freezes. I mean, it REALLY freezes, I can't use the mouse, or try to close X, or anything, all I can do is press reset.

The same thing also happened with an older version of Xmule. I heard its very hard for a Linux System to completely hang (thats one of the reasons I changed to Linux), so I'm puzzled... why is my PC freezing like that?

If you want some technical info, I run a Duron 1200, nvidia GeforceFX5200, 256 ram. Thanks...

Although I have no direct experience with what your describing, I was told a little while ago that frequent system crashes and freezes can be attributed to an incorrectly installed/configured video driver (At least in Winblowz).

I use xMule all the time and I do not have a problem like this, so Im guessing its a hardware problem ;) (heh, typical of a programmer)

Are you using an Asus motherboard with nforce 2? If so, you, as me, need to put noapic and nolapic as kernel parameters. Those were causing VERY frequent lockups.

I also heard that xmule has some memory leaks that makes CPU usage skyrocket in some systems. Maybe thats the problem.

Redeye, I've tried the noapic stuff, but in fact, I already had made it... this is what my boot command looks like:
noapic devfs=mount acpi=ht resume=/dev/hda9 splash=silent

I've also checked the "force noapic" option. My motherboard is an Asus... oh, I forgot the model... its S777 something...
