Windows XP/NTFS + Virtual PC/Mandrake + Samba = Shared Directories?

I'm trying to set up XP/Samba to allow for file swapping between XP and Mandrake 9.2 running in a Virtual PC 2004 session within XP on the same machine. I get the impression that it can be done, but none of the tutorials I can find address my particular kink, and all of my attempts at just hammering it out myself are failing.

Has anybody ever successfully achieved this? Can somebody point me in the right direction?

a. omg why?

b. i'm not really sure if virtual PC even support a virtual network as well., and i doubt it.

1 it will need a virtual NIC for linux to use, and avirtual NIC for XP to use to connect to this imaginary network.

2. Windows XP will get confused and use your actual NIC/Internet connection looking for network computers.
