No, wine does not run Windows drivers. It uses drivers present in the Linux system.

Its for a flat bed scanner that is unsupported, visioneer 4800 USB. Using wine seemed like my last chance, I'm thinking I'll have to get a new scanner unless anyone knows a way for me to use it in linux.

You can download and install "VMware-Workstation" and use your scanner, I have a Visioneer 7600 and it works fine, but requires install Windows98 on my virtual machine..

Thanks for the surgestion dolphans1, I'll have a look at this for sure, my only problem is I'm a bit sort of space on the old hard drive at the moment... in the process of upgrading my compter. But when I get a new HDD i'm going to give it a go, unless between now and then a driver amazingly appears out of thin air!

Thanks for the help on this one.

Richie,

If you're seeking alternatives to Windows but still want to run your old software (including drivers) and hardware, might I suggest that you try dual booting with ReactOS?
