Hi, I'm new to linux, I downloaded mandriva 1 file "Mandriva-One-Americas-Western-Europe-2006-CD" then created a bootable data cd and burnt file onto cd. I then booted my win 2000 pc from cd and it ran through what looked like a dos based driver loading procedure and then froze. I powered off pc and restarted without cd and windows froze @ "windows is staring up" step. Sometimes i boots to black screen with vertical blue bar on left hand side of screen and no keyb response, I can boot pc with mcAfee anti-virus rescue disk but it won't boot from HD. Has partition been modified? or has somehing else changed?...any suggestions much appreciated, thanks, Kevin

Have you tried booting with a different CD?

I can boot with "operating system recovery disk" with no problems and have access to windows but can't fix problem because i don't know what configuraion changes were made by mandriva 1 boot cd.

Mandriva one is a live cd, so unless you used it to install from it shouldn't have made any changes. What boot order have you got in bios?
