Will Mandrake 8.1 work on my AMD system?

I have an AMD 2400 processor, can't remember what motherboard I have (haven't looked inside in months), a 128MB GeForce 4 Ti4200 graphics card, 1 GB of DDR SDRAM, and two 40GB hard drives.

Is Mandrake 8.1 compatible with this hardware, or do I have to acquire Mandrake 10.1? And if the latter, is 10.1 compatible with it?

It probably will be fine, but Mandrake 8.1 is so dated, I'd urge you to get 10.1 or at least 9.2.

it sure will work on your system, but to have the new features (if you want them) you should try mandrake 10.1 it will work also, maybe even better than 8.1
