What to use to play music on Mandriva?

Hi, I just installed Mandriva 2005 just to take a look at it. I chose KDE and now when I login I can't seem to find any player installed to play music. No xmms, no kplayer, no nothing. What do I use to play music by default in Mandriva 2005?

Setup your sources at http://easyurpmi.zarb.org , then go to the Mandriva Control Center and install XMMS, Mplayer, etc,. Probably you somehow unchecked/didn't install the multimedia packages at installation.

I think amarok is installed as default. It's a great program, I like it better than any of the others because it allows you to manage your music collection in a similar(though not as full featured) way as in iTunes.

Yeah, set up your repositories for urpmi at easyurpmi and you'll be set to download whatever program you want by typing "urpmi packagename" as root in a console or you can use RPMdrake for a graphical interface. Both have merits.

Thanks for the help. I already set up my repositories through the easyURPMI site. But when I try installing XMMS or MPlayer it gives me some error: "Some packages cannot be installed (due to unsatisfied liblzo.so.1)
How do I solve this problem?

Did you set all of the different repositories up?

I searched for that package, but I couldn't find anything. That's a weird dependency that I've never heard of before.

I did set up both repositories which commands were given to me by the EasyURPMI site.

Since my last post though somethign happened. I went to User setup and added the user in some additional groups; and since then when urpmi xmms it says the package is already installed. But when I try to run it, it says "bash command not found".

I'm pretty lost into all this now. At this point, I probably will try to reinstall Mandriva or even download and install 2006 instead. I don't know what is wrong.

I just installed Mandriva 2006 LE yesterday and for the first time used amarok. It is outstanding, by far the best player ive used on linux. Being able to burn a playlist to a cd via k3b is great.

after upgrading to 2006 from 10.1, xmms works no more. trying to install xmms 1.2 from rpm but keep being told that mikmod is missing even i have already installed it.

final decision, dumped xmms and started using rhythmbox. everything is fine since then.
