Hi all,
I have installed Linux Mandrake 6.0 on a old compaq computer,
with a 1 gig drive, and 48 megs of memory.
I'm not using any Window Managers \ GUI ,
just the command line, to telnet into another Linux box,
on my network, behind my router.

The monitor that I am using is very old and "dark",
I quess that I can't use the happy "xgamma" command...
so I need to know what command that I can "punch in" in "real time"
to either make the background of the screen a differn't color...
... or to make the text a differn't color... or maybe even both.

I guess it's not possible?

I figured how to do it in bash shell...

PS1="\[\033[1;37m\][\$(date +%H%M)][\u@\h:\w]$\[\033[0m\] "

changes the text to white, not grey... just what I wanted!
