What is ACPI and do I need it?
I remember posting my lilo.conf awhile ago and someone told me to disable my ACPI or else it can ruin something? Is this true? What does it do?

Primarily handles power mgmt functions... but actually can do much more. If this is a desktop machine, you probably won't miss much without it (machine may not power off automatically when shut down though).

If you have ACPI on and your computer runs fine, I don't see a need to disable it. I would keep it on until you encounter a problem...But as mentioned, it works very well with desktop PCs

Thanks. The reason I ask is because I'm trying to cut down on unneccessary services during boot up. So far I've disabled httpd, proftpd, nsf, and now I think I will disable ACPI.

When I installed Mandrake, I didn't know what I wanted so I just checked all the boxes, just in case. Now I realize I don't need them so I'm cleaning things up to cut down on memory resources.
