Smile were to download latest 9.2


Hican some one tell me were i can download the latest mandrake 9.2 that has any updates already on it and won`t fry my cdrom as i already killed one before reading the boards. That was with the 9.2 rc2 version. Thanks for your time.

It's hard to believe that you fried a drive because of a download.

I don't think you can find isos with the updates on them, but you can oreder an update cd here and at some of the links below.

Thanks. It was when i installed the 9.2 not when i downloaded it.That i fryed the drive as it was an LG cdrom. I know how to burn etc iso`s.
I will try the update cd

I can't believe installing Linux would fry a drive either.

I have, of course, had flaky CD-ROM drives that wouldn't read some CDs.

you should read the thread at the top of the Mandrake forum then.

Astonishing! Why would someone make a drive only partly ATAPI compatable, I wonder?

I am glad that I bought my hardware with Linux in mind, so I avoided the traps that boxes bundled with Windows set for you in Linux.

At least, it shouldn't bother my drives if I upgrade as I looked for fully compatable ATAPI drives when I built them.

I had to toss my old CD-rom and modem and video card from my first box which I stupidly bought bundled with Windows.

go to a magazine shop.... buy a magazine and get it with the magazine. that is what i did. cost me 6 bucks.. for mdk9.2 and a magazine... worth every penny because it has all kinds of hints and tricks to help the noobs out.
