watching yahoo preview clips

I was just wondering how to play movie previews in yahoo. I have downloaded the codecs and installed them. I can go to several sites that use windows media player and real player and listen to audio streams and even some video.

It doesn't give me a way to see what file type is streaming. I use kaffeine to watch and listen to some of the media. When I started up Kaffeine it checks to see if all the codecs are loaded etc. It says everything is loaded properly. When I try to watch it I comes up and says no matching streams. I have Kaffeine to function as the windows media player . That works on a lot of sites. I believe I should just be able to set kaffeine up to intercept the streaming and it should work. That what I'm hoping for.

Has anyone been able to get any of the movie previews on yahoo to work and what modifications did you have to do to make it work ? Oh, I'm running Mandrive LE 2005.

Any help would be appreciated....

Thanks Charlie

Maybe mplayerplug-in for Mozilla will help you but not for for all videos.Yahoo uses their own player that wants ActiveX, higher version of Netscape and God knows what more.

I usually use Opera but firefox will work almost as well. I will check to see what I need to do to get the plugin to work.

I can get some web pages that use windows media to work using Kaffeine. I can listen to internet radio (live365 etc), I just couldn't get the yahoo movie previews to work.

WHere did you get the firefox plugins from a firefox home page or were they options to download from Mandriva?

Thanks for the info I will start checking it out!!

Thanks,
I hate to sound stupid but how do you install it. It doesn't look like a script.
Looks like the file I downloaded is a compressed file of some sort.
Do you place it in a directory for plugins or do you execute or run a script?
I found it here https://addons.mozilla.org/extension...umpg=10&id=446

No installation instructions. I will do some more googling to see how this works.

thanks courtrrb for pointing me in the right directions.

Wish I could have found something for Opera. HMM maybe this will work for Opera.

I will check around.......

Okay,
I was trying to download it while I was Opera.
I brought up FIrefox and clicked on the install icon and it installed the software.

I gave me a list of players to choose from and I took the defaults. But now when I go and try and play a movie preview in yahoo it takes me to the yahoo media wizzard and says no matching stream.

I got to figure out what I still need to do......

getting closer thought i think (grin)
