i don't think you really understand what vmware is. vmware is a virtual machine. it does not emulate windows, it emulates a physical computer, which you can use just like your own physical one, by installing whatever operating system you want on it. maybe you want to look at Cedega / Wine ??

Thanks for info i really knew it not anyway am using wine but some softwares aint opening with wine so i thought of using vmware.so if i install vmware on my MDk with winxp os so does all my winxp applications work here?

like i said, it is a virtual machine, anything that would work on a real machine chould work fine on a virtual machine, save for hardware dependent applications, e.g. games requiring hardware based graphics processing mechanisms.

vmware copies your clipboard back and forth i think, so just do the normal actions in both operating systems.

ahh thanks again acid one more thing what if i want to run limewire accelerator in linux which does not open in wine so i exceute it in VMware and am using limewire linux version so does that accelerator works for limewire?

acid_kewpie 03-27-2006 06:28 AM

i've no idea what that is but i'd assume not, as the vm is a seperate network device.

hey i got a lil problem with VMware when am using the virtual OS im not able to use internet in it it says 'IP conflict' how to get rigid of it. does using a ip like 192.168.55.03 in real os n 192.168.55.04 in virtual os will work out?

if your vmware setup is using bridged networking, not natted networking, then as long as the vm has a unique ip in the same subnet as the rest of the network, you should be fine. if you have an error as blatant as an address conflict then i would believe it.

Vm is using bridge networking
