usbdevfs: remount parameter error

Mandy 9.2. my mouse and keyboard are plugged via a composite ps2 to usb convertor into the usb port.
Both used to work fine previously. But now I am getting "usb devfs remount error" at boot and the mouse has stopped working. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance
dmesg says: usbdevfs: remount parameter error

Just for your information, I have edited /etc/sysconfig/usb and set mouse=yes to force it to load, but it makes no difference. I triple boot with XP, Redhat and mandy, the mouse works fine with the other 2 operating systems. Any suggestions?

did it originally work in mandrake, or just stop working in mandrake?
did you try to reconfigure x with your mouse?
