Urpmi logging

How do I enable urpmi logging? I fitted a new hdd because my old one was dying. SO I reinstalled Mandriva 06 did an entire system update, security, bug the lot. However /var/log does not have a urpmi log. Im presuming its not been enabled. How can I re enable it?

Thanks In advance Michael.

Hi, could not find where this is enabled. It is on in my distro.
Did you have a look in msec options? and also in the menus
of drakconf?
In last resource have a look in the urpmi perl script

out of curiosity i did a fresh install and never touched any of the services, yet again urpmi logging still does not happen. It never even created a urpmi.log file.

I cant see anything in the drakeconfig section the other two bits i do not know what you mean.

Surly someone must know how to solve it, i cant be the only one who has had the problem.

thanks again

Michael

Msec = Mandrake security
Maybe one security level does log urpmni and not another
On 2005 options in MCC media manager are: Display log (this is a window only to see the log)

if you do in a console
less /usr/sbin/urpmi
you will see what I mean about perl script

look also at /usr/sbin/rpmdrake

I know you are going to say: surely there is an easier way...

Well maybe. At least you will have learnt a few things.
It also demonstrate it is all customisable

Sorry I do not know the answer (yet)

well i have set the security to standard as it says thats the prefered way for a work ststaion.

I have now kind of solved the problem. The gui interface even though it still uses urpmi will not log anything to urpmi.log

however if i do it from the command line it is logged.

so its kind of strange.

Thanks again

Michael

tail -f /var/log/syslog or tail -f /var/log/messages
start it as root in a console
beofore using urpmi or rpmkdrake (try to install a small package)
thsi may give you some clues
