urpmi database locked?

HI

Can someone please help me. I have Mandrake 10 official and when I seek to use urpmi I get the message database locked. It used to work lovely, what has changed? is there now a charge or something?

Only 1 instance of urpmi can access the DB at any one time. launch "KDE system gaurd", check for running urpmi-s, and rpmdrake, and kill 'em.

Otto K,
If you don't want to go mess with files, just reboot the machine and it should unlock urpmi database. Or at least it works for me.

Hi

Thanks for all the advice. I think the problem turned out to be my own impatience. I think I got fed up with waiting for the necessary files to download and closed down the link which locked the database. While this is what happened when I tried another database.

It doesn't. Instead it says:
urpmi: no process killed while the locked db problem is still valid

Does the database remain locked if you reboot the computer.
