10.0 to 2006 is a pretty big leap, but it might work with urpmi:
first change all urpmi mirrors from 10.0 to 2006, then:
short version:
Code:
#urpmi urpmi
#urpmi --auto-select
#urpmi kernel
answer "y" to any questions.

full instructions

it will probably give a better result to do a fresh install. as long as /home is in a separate partition, little will be lost. otherwise it would really be a good idea to move home to its own partition.

Three little words to save much heartache: "Backup, backup, backup!".

Sometimes the upgrade process works, and everythign is fine. More often, you end up having to reformat your / partition and do a fresh install.
