go to Mandrake Control Center->software->updates. choose a mirror when it gives you the list of choices, make sure all update boxes are checked (bug fixes, security. upgrades). if it won't connect to a mirror or says that it's unavailable, go to media manager, remove the update mirror you chose, then go back to updates & choose another mirror. not all mirrors are always up to date &/or available.
