Uninstalling Postgres
hello all

I have postgres 7.4.5 installed with mandrake 10.1 and I want to unistall from the system because I want setup mysql that come with drake 10.1 and postgres never worked

any help how to uninstall postgres by terminal mode?

You can use drakx to uninstall it; I think it works even in terminal mode. Alternatively, you can use

rpm --erase packagename
You can install mysql alongside postgres without causing any problems, as they use completely different protocols and network ports.

There's a very good tutorial on getting started with postgresql at Basically you need to su to root in order to su to postgres to create a user account. Then you can create a database, and after that it's very easy to use.

thank you for your help,

I was going to work with postgres but the application never work because a error.
I installed postgres, I did the cluster and I started creating DB by CREATDB and also creating some tables, but when I tried to access from any php page, I continue getting the error;

Call to undefined function: pg_connect() in /home/projects/web/pgstart.php on line 3

so for this reason I decided to uninstall it and start with my Mysql

any help or sugestion or link about this error that I am seeing that happend to many peoples

This is a problem with your PHP installation, not with PostgreSQL. You haven't got the pg_* extensions installed, which you need to connect to a postgres database server; see the PHP documentation for details.
