uninstalling mandrake
hey,
well I can't get the mySQL to install right so I am just going to get this off my laptop to get the space back for the HD. so I have it running windows xp and mandrake, using grub for the boot. what do I need to do it get the windows boot back, then I can just use partitionMagic to do the rest. |
I think that the mandrake 10 install cd can restore the windows boot manager. I haven't done it before, but I think there is an option in the rescue mode of the install cd.

boot your windows-XP CD
F-8 choose command prompt fdisk /mbr remove CD boot back into windows. Do what you need in Part-Mag. insert Mandrake CD reboot into Rescue Mode. Grub-install /dev/hda hda=whatever your primary boot particion is. Grub should pick-up both OS. KC |
ok I guess I have not been too clear. I am going to be taking off linux to just be running a windows laptop. I am doing my linux work from a virtualPC in windows. so I want to go back to just windows boot as it would if that was the only thing I had ever had installed.
thanks! |
Boot with Mdk install cd 1 into rescue mode, choose 'restore windows bootloader' to get rid of grub.
Now boot into XP and delete the Linux partitions you'd find from adminstrative tools, within control panel Good Luck |
Thanks that looks to have done it.
I know that justintime32 said the samething but given I have had so many problems with my laptop and I need it for every class at college I did not want to go with an "I think". Again thanks to both of you (justintime32 and RockmanExe) for helping me. |
