Uninstall And Reinstall Mandrake
I want to remove and reinstall Mandrake (2.2.17).

Hi, It's ok to do this, all you have to do is insert and use the 1st disk to reboot the computer.
When the installer loads select install, Not upgrade, and format any linux partitions you want to clean before your new installation takes place. If you're doing this to learn, as you stated, try to set up separate partitions for /root, /var, /usr, /boot, /home and /swap. You could add a partition for /tmp and /usr/ftp as well. If you do this and later on down the track you have a corruption of some sort, you may escape writing over all of your personal data and program settings as the installer usually wants to format /usr (edit typo) and /root from a clean install. That Leaves all of the personal stuff in /home where you left it. Happy learning. And don't forget, we're here to help if we can. And, The better the question the better the answer. |
