If it is skipping your hard drive it is likely that your bios is not set to boot from cd.

# How do I uninstall Linux completely and keep/use Windows only?
How to Remove Linux and Install Windows 2000
How to Remove Linux and Install Windows XP
You can remove lilo from the mbr with
/sbin/lilo -u
You can remove grub or lilo from the mbr by booting with a Windows 98 boot floppy (at the prompt, type fdisk /mbr), or by using the Windows XP Recovery Console or the Windows 2000 Recovery Console

You shouldn't have to remove it

When you install win2k you shouldn't have to have the partitions or contents in them removed. Win2k should be able to delete the linux partitions. When you start the instalation of win2k look at each screen, when it gets to the disk / partitons screen you can remove the partitons you created in linux there. Create new ntfs partitions and you are styling. Thats all I have ever had to do, never had to do anything special to wipe a linux partition or lilo from a system. I have only had to use the win2k install cd.

Hope even though it was a bit vauge this helps

Well you wouldn't see anybody asking how to remove windows on a linux form would you? Is this a bash against Linux? How do you remove Linux (Because its not good enough for me) so I can install MS windows. This isn't a question about how to fix a linux problem it's a question how to remove it. If windows Is so Easy it should be easy to figure out and this problem is easy for anybody who's installed windows before.

Regardless, this is a forum. Who are we to pass judgement? I am not going to argue with you on this... What he wants to use on his computer is perfectly up to him... he just asked a simple question. If you can't give a useful reply, then don't reply at all. He asked for help, not opinions.

We don't know why he needs to remove Linux - and it's unimportant. I have also had to remove it temporarily.

We are supposed to be a community - answers like Courtrrb's are a good way to ensure that people like Bnahell never come back.

I had a similar problem. Had Win 98 on C:, Mandrake 9.2 on D:. At atartup it skips A, C and CD rom. Continuing to load Linux no matter what the boot squence is.
More details read http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=118956
