unable to install vmware under Mandrake 9.2

I am currently having trouble installing VMare that came with Mandrake 9.2 in the Power Pack edition. When I run vmware-config.pl I get the following message and cannot go any further:

What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running kernel? [/usr/src/linux/include]

The directory of kernel headers (version 2.4.22mdk) does not match your running kernel (version 2.4.22). Consequently, even if the compilation of the module was successful, the module would not load into the running kernel.

I am not sure what to do with this error. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Mark

Thats the kernel and source I'am using. Make shure that you have the pciutil loaded they are required. Also when you do a alt-cntl-f1 note the running kernel number and compare that to the source in /usr/src and make shure they match.

I had once the same problem, its easy.
When you install mdk9.2 you get kernel 2.4.22-10mdk. When you install the source also you install kernel-source-2.4.22-10mdk. But when you update your package, you have the possibility to update the source to kernel-source-2.4.22-21mdk. So if you have done this update, your kernel and kernel source are not the same version. hence, remove the kernel-source and install the correct one of the CD's and not of the update.

I have the same problem: Mandrake 9.2 + VMWare 4.0.5 and I CAN'T install the tools!!!

If i go to check the src directory, i see that it's EMPTY! (only a rpm subdirectory, if i remember right).

I did no upgrade with internet. All installation and prior VMtools steps went right...

Any help?

Thx in advance!
