Unable to install 9.2, help with error message please

I've been unable to install 9.2 on my old computer, (MSI KT3 ultra, AMD 1800XP, 256mb, 15GB hard drive and samsung DVD/CD drive).
I keep getting the error message
'/mnt/tmp/drakx.Images/01_thnaks.png: Image file' contains no data.
The Cd install disks are all ok i.e. they installed on my new computer Asus A7NX2.0 delux board (AMD 2800XP), 512mb,
I have had probles with version 9.1 and 10 , but this is the first time I got the error message the other versions just locked up.
Has any one got any ideas.
p.s. plaese keep it simple as I am a linux newbie in need of direction

png is just an image file. The fact that it contains no data means it is corrupt.
This on its own will not stop linux installing.
There must be other error messages, what are they?
If that file is corrupt, other files are probably knackered as well.

Thanks, for the insight.
There are no other error messages, it just keeps going back to the select packages stage of the install.
I was begining to think it could be my drive, a samsumg DVD and Cd reader, as the disks install on my other computer, all of the versions I have 9.1, 9.2 and 10.
( SuSe instals but Lindows and Knoppix don't work either) I will rip the cd-rw out of that one at the weeked, and see if it makes a difference.
( if it works I then have to choose the right wireless network set up to buy - its all fun ;-) , especially for a linux newbie)
