Unable to access Konqueror with USB drive plugged in user mode

Using Mandrake 10.1, when I plug my usb zip drive in and mount it, (mount dev/sda4 mnt/zip), I lose access to Konqueror, desktop icons and browser access via the menu. The only way I can access files again in gui, is to unmount it, then reboot. Any suggests? Thanks.

i had a very similar problem with a 64 meg flash drive, same symptoms. After I did the latest updates from mandrake (in mcc) it fixed itself.

Same, updated a bunch of stuff for konqueror, mentions the bug in alot of the updates, sadly I am not sure which one actually fixed the problem. Is there a way to check what things you updated through urpmi? But anyways, yeah, just the recommended updates will probably do the trick.

I noticed that when I boot up and switch to verbose mode, while the usb zip drive is not plugged in that it shows it as failed. Does that mean that is it configured for a permanent mount and not plug n play? Forgive my ignorance, I've been abused by wimpdows for many years.
