unable to access files

I'm unning samba on my mandrake 9.0, it's on a network with a windows machine. I can acces and copy the files being shared by the windows machine, on the other hand i can see the shared folder on the Mandrake machine from the windows machine but i cannot see the files inside the folder. I copied a text file to the share folder on the linux box from the windows machine, but i cannot see the file i copied when i look in the shared folder on the linux machine. When i shut down the linux machine the NMB say no such service, if i restart either machine i still can see the file.

Any help will be appreciated.
