Two excellent links for Newbies

Hi all,

Just found these two fantastic links to setting up Mandrake 9.2. I haven't gone home and tried this yet so don't know if it's as easy as it sounds but it's worth a try.

http://www.zebulon.org.uk/ICML0.HTML

http://www.mandrake.tips.4.free.fr/configuration92.html

Everything is covered from mozilla media plugins, DVD / Windows media playback / Quicktime, configuring xine, mplayer and totem etc etc.

Look forward to some positive posts on how it went for everyone.

The second link was especially helpful in getting the nVidia driver working. Not too sure about the first :^\

Thank you so much deejay...excellent find

As luck would have it, the guy has the EXACT same video card I do (MSI GeForce 4 Ti4200) and then I printed out an followed the install, which went flawlessly. All I had to do was change the "nv" in XF86Config-4 to "nvidia" and that was it, I was one my way

I know the drivers are working now cause I see the NVidia logo...but also the games installed with Mandrake actaully play and run properly now...WOO HOO...

once again thanks

Thumbs up Many many thanks

A first for me following instructions from the net for Linux that result in something working ; )
Maybe someone will do something similar for SAMBA
Again many thanks.

I'm so happy people found these links useful. More on the way for configuring Super Karamba which I have found is the most flexiable and easy to use desktop utility for KDE.
