Angry TV Card is muted in Mandy 10 !?

Hi folks, since installing the new Mandrake my bt878 TV Card wont produce sound anymore. I don't know if its a 10.0 specific problem because i used another linux-distro before but i searched on google and the forum and found quite a few people with similar problems. Didn't find a suitable solution though.

But this problem shouldn't be to hard for the cracks out there, ne? The line in of the soundcard is set on but the TV card doesn't feed. Wich steps are needed? I think i read about this before but i cant remember where so plz someone enlighten me again.

I had the same problem. What's happening (on my machine at least) is that the new version of alsa actually uses some settings that were unused before and they are initialized to off.

It isn't M10 specific, if you have M9.2 and upgrade alsa from 0.9.x to 1.0.x the same thing happens.

If you have an audigy or use the emu10k1 drivers you want to set the volume on a setting called analog mix up to 100%. Tvtime works with that one. MythTV uses "analog mix capture". You may also have to make sure a setting called center is turned up. This is in addition to line being unmuted and turned up.

If you have another card just start alsamixer (if you use alsa) and experiment to see which settings work. Don't use aumix, it doesn't have all the settings. The kde mixer has more but may not have everything.

Hope this helps.

THX doug, i got it.

just for info i am using the onboard sound of my A7N8X-deluxe (Realtek ALC650 rev3) and there's a switch named "line-in as surround" wich was enabled by default. disabling it solved it. This one can be accessed from KMix too btw.
