Turnning of MIcrophone

Hi.
I just got a headset. After I plugged it in, I discovered that mic feeds directly to output. In otherwords if I say something in to the mic I hear it in the headphones. How can I make it stop? I tried googling it, but just couldn't find the info that I need. I might be searching for the wrong thing.

If you are using KDE as your Window Manager...

Go to Sounds and run KMix.

Depending on what version you are running you will either see tabs that say Output & Input, or you will be looking at a diagram with all your audio options. If you have the tabs, select input and deselect the microphone option. If you have the other, just click the button below the microphone and that will turn it off, or you can lower the volume on both.
